I had an epiphany this week. Y’all…it was a GAME CHANGER. Seriously.

The Epiphany was a culmination of a great deal of inner work that I have been doing to grow and build my self-worth. Because, GET THIS:
How we view ourselves and what we think of ourselves is EH-VER-EE-THANG.
Don’t believe me? Let’s check it:
-
You want a job promotion, but are afraid to approach your boss. Self-Worth Issue
-
You are a hard-core Perfectionist. Self-Worth Issue.
-
You want to get healthy, but don’t want to spend the money needed to get healthy (in terms of a gym membership, buying better food, new workout clothes, etc).Self-Worth Issue.
-
You get frustrated with yourself because you don’t think you are “good enough” for x, y or z. Self-Worth Issue.
-
You are dog-tired and need a break, but you don’t think you can take the time or ask for help. Self-Worth Issue.
-
You don’t want to spend time with [name the family member] because they are so critical of every move you make. Self-Worth Issue.
-
Other people’s opinions (of you) matter too much, throw you off and wreck you. Self-Worth Issue.
-
Someone mistreats you and you respond in a way that you are not proud of. Self-Worth Issue.
I could go on, but you get the point.
So many of the problems we have, big or small, regardless of “fault”, come down to our self-worth. Now, I’m NOT saying that the problems you may have are all your fault. That said, if we find ourselves ignoring things/people, stuffing things, sweeping things under the rug, giving people a pass, our self-worth is likely a part of the equation.
Want to solve a problem in your life? Grow your Self-Worth and I promise you, you will find a solution. It may not be the perfect solution. It may not be “best-case” or the most ideal, especially if part of the problem involves other people (because you can only control you). But that is my point, if you grow your self-worth, you are in more and more control.
When you grow your self-worth, it is like removing the restrictions that you put on yourself and/or that others have put on you.
When you grow your worth:
-
You are much more capable of having those hard conversations.
-
You know that you are worth the effort to put into your health and/or mental health.
-
You understand that you need a break and deserve time to rest.
-
You will be better able to set boundaries for any unhealthy people in your life.
-
You will ask for help or simply tell someone that you need them to step up, please and thank you.
-
You will see the ways in which you are unique, deserving and worthy.
-
You will do the work to toss perfectionism, self doubt and other people’s approval in the trash.
I often say that beliefs = outcomes. What you believe creates the life you have or the life you want. If you don’t like the outcomes in your life (in any or all areas), you must change your beliefs. The same is true for your self-worth. What is self-worth anyway? Self-Worth is what you believe about yourself.
What do you think? I’d love to hear from you! (Like…really)
